According to their purpose, we conditionally divide the business web sites into three types: business e-card, business site and business portal.
In practice, a similar web site is called ‘electronic business card’ because it gives general information about the operation and the contacts of the company. When creating a business e-card, we take into account the identity and the potential clients of each individual business. They are intended for companies, which look only for image presence on the Internet.
The business web sites are intended for companies, looking for more serious presence on the Internet. Often the term ‘dynamic site’ means exactly a business web site. Besides the general information about the company, it also offers other functions, such as a search engine, a product catalogue, news, gallery, order and question forms, documentation for downloading, etc.
The basic advantage of this type of web sites is that the information can be updated even by people without any technical training (for example the secretary in the company). For this purpose, when the site is created, a content management system (CMS) is integrated into the system, through which the change of the texts and pictures becomes as easy as writing an e-mail.
It is intended for internet-based businesses such as a web-portal, e-shop, online services, web catalogue, etc.
Normally similar web sites contain two parts – public and intranet. Besides the information about the company and additional services (search engine, news, gallery, etc.), the public part can also provide various online services – for example electronic payment, specific references, user accounts, etc.
The intranet part is accessible only for the employees in the company, as through it they can process the company data bases, electronic invoices, user orders and many others. For this purpose, the creation of an additional web system is needed, which is completely hidden from the web site. Similar possibilities significantly optimize the business processes in a company, as they reduce the level of bureaucracy, centralize the information and activate the routine activities.
